Carey T Rowan, M.D. is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Rowan completed his undergraduate studies in Spanish and Human Development at Vanderbilt University, Nashville Tennessee. Dr. Rowan then received his medical degree from St. George’s University, Grenada, West Indies and Brooklyn Hospital, New York. Both medical internship and residency in ophthalmology were completed at The Greater Baltimore Medical Center, where Dr. Rowan served as Chief Resident in the department of Ophthalmology. In college Dr. Rowan played Rugby where his team won the SEC 3 years in a row and was a member of the Crew team.

Dr. Rowan has participated in medical mission trips to Mexico, Honduras, India, and the Dominican Republic, where he had donated his skill in Cataract surgery. He has made it a goal to do many mission trips with Medical Ministries International providing free cataract surgery to people in remote locations around the world.

Since taking over the practice in 2001, Dr. Rowan has continued to prove his expertise with the thousands of cataract, refractive, oculoplastic and glaucoma surgeries, in addition to his medical treatments for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration clinically.

Dr. Rowan grew up in Tarpon Springs, and now resides in Clearwater Beach, Fl with his wife Pamela and three boys. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys hunting, fishing and skiing with his friends and family. Dr. Rowan annually competes in local and national triathlons and has competed internationally in Germany, France and the Caribbean. He coach’s his children’s soccer teams and sponsors various Pasco County youth sports teams and sporting events.
