Dr. Alicia Havens is a residency-trained optometrist in ocular disease.  She earned her B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from The University of Arizona in 2009, and then graduated as valedictorian from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Optometry in 2014.  Over the past few years, she has been working alongside optometrists and ophthalmologists together, greatly influencing her desire to specialize in ocular disease, as well as primary care.  She completed several private practice internships at large eye centers in the greater Phoenix area, and recently finished her residency at Omni Eye Services of Atlanta, the first co-management practice in the country.

During her four years at Midwestern, she was an active member of the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, and conducted a research project studying ocular electrodiagnostics and its relationship to vascular diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension.  She also volunteers at annual children’s health fairs, the Special Olympics, and Feed My Starving Children.  She is looking forward to helping Dr. Rowan as he continues to participate in medical mission trips, bringing eye care and cataract surgery to those who have never known it.

Dr. Havens was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, and though the sun shines in both places, she is excited to take up residency in Clearwater, Florida.  She is thrilled to be joining Rowan Eye Center and is looking forward to serving the patients of New Port Richey.
